Capabilities at the Verge — AI, Space, Defence and Integrated Enterprise solutions.
Roadmaps, governance, and data architecture that turn AI from a slide deck into a system. We translate hype into measurable outcomes — and refuse to ship the rest.
Architecture for satellite command, ground stations, telemetry pipelines and downlink networks. Built for the redundancy budget space operations actually require.
End-to-end solution architecture for the platforms your business actually runs on. Integration patterns, identity, data fabric and APIs designed to compose — not collide.
Classified network design, sovereign cloud, Essential Eight uplift, ISM-aligned architecture. Defence-grade rigour applied across mission-critical programs.
Sovereign hosting, data residency and Classified-grade architecture — for federal and state agencies, and for the enterprises whose data, identity and supply chain cannot leave the country.
Multi-site, multi-vendor estates where the architecture has to span a full board term. ASX-listed program experience across nine verticals — banking, healthcare, energy, transport.
From individual solutions to whole-of-organisation architecture. Every engagement maps to an existing roadmap or builds one from first principles.
From single solutions to organisational IT roadmaps. Interoperability and reuse engineered in.

Twenty-five plus years across Defence, Government, Mining, Healthcare, Banking, Transport, Utilities and Airports. From classified network design to active-active datacentres, hybrid cloud strategy to satellite ground systems.
Verge Tech runs lean by design. Strategy, architecture and program leadership delivered by one principal — Jon Spivey — with a curated bench of partners when scale demands it.
The result: roadmaps that ship, architectures that hold

John is s consummate IT professional. he engages with both employer and customer at a personal and professional level to get the best understanding of the technical and problem landscape. This allows him to deliver tailored, bespoke solutions rapidly and on time. John's understanding of the current and future IT sphere of influence, allows him to provide solutions for today's problem that will continue to provide a solution into the future. John is a pleasure to work with.
I have worked with Jon Spivey for more than twenty years across several organisations and industry sectors. Throughout that time he has consistently demonstrated an uncommon ability to take complex business requirements, translate them into a clear technical vision and then ensure that the outcome is delivered to a high standard across multiple dispersed delivery and vendor teams. His capability extends across multiple industries including Defence, Telecommunications, Transportation and Logistics. Jon is highly outcomes focused and will drive both customer and operational teams to achieve the solution and deliver the business requirement.
I worked with Jonathan on an Agile software project delivery. I found him highly capable in dealing with the complex and rapidly changing requirements of the project and his capacity to meet deadlines for project deliverables.
Jonathan is highly skilled in senior stakeholder management, technical architecture and delivery outcomes.
Had the privilege of working with Jon through a series of large ICT refresh projects, a thoroughly enjoyable series of work, made better by Jon's commitment to get the job done. There is no doubting is diligence in planning on these projects, his input into the engineering requirements and design, and encouraging teams to think outside the box when needed. Great at setting the expectations of everyone, and open to assist, and participating in related but alternate discussions and options. Always has the outcomes in mind, as well as the customer experience.
Jon's drive as a solution architect was evident from day one. An articulate, pragmatic approach with deep technical understanding — a true asset to any organisation.
Jon is a highly experience and accomplished solution architect. He has an in-depth knowledge of a range of technologies and I would rate him as an “expert” in Infrastructure and Networking. An added strength to Jon’s ability is that if he is unsure or is in search of alternatives (or as he would put it “you need stuff”) then he makes use of his extensive network or simply researches to explore those alternatives. Jon is passionate about his work and has a determined drive to work to solutions and deliver outcomes for his customers. I would love to have Jon working for me permanently and will not hesitate in calling on him again for his services if I need to.
I had the pleasure of working alongside Jon on a major Contact Centre technology migration to a hosted Platform-as-a-Service model. As a versatile architect, Jon rapidly conceptualises project objectives, identifies potential problem areas and develops remediation options to keep the project on critical path. His honest and straight talking attitude ensures stakeholders and management have a realistic view of the effort involved in delivering complex pieces of work. In this project Jon was pivotal in clearly defining the technical scope deliverables, mapping the current state integration environment topology and crafting the overall architectural strategy to ensure the successful project delivery. Jon’s comprehensive experience with enterprise grade network, telephony, server, database, storage, and virtualisation technologies is clearly evident, as he is very comfortable peer challenging technical vendor proposals and detailed designs to ensure project solutions are fit for purpose. I have no hesitation in recommending Jon and know any organisations lucky enough to onboard him in future will not be disappointed as his diligence and quality of work is first rate.
Jon has a great breadth of technical, project management and business knowledge which was crucial in the success of our active-active enterprise datacentre deployment.
Jon's ability to successfully deliver a large scale, multi-site program of work has been greatly appreciated by the Tasmanian IT market. His top-down approach is backed by solid technical understanding of dispersed managed networks, cybersecurity best practice and hyper-converged architecture.
There are many virtual CIOs out there, but I can honestly say that Jon is so far in front of the pack. An extremely clear confidence and execution around project, programme and change management — backed with deep understanding of the underlying technology.
Jon always worked to get the best deal for his client whilst maintaining a professional and respectful relationship with the vendor.
